The A34 Wilmslow Bypass
Daisies flower by the roadside
The old A34 Wilmslow Road. Now the B something or other. As you can see it's not very busy any more.
The old A34 looking towards Wilmslow. At left is Finney Green Cottage B&B & the brown sign directs people onto Stanneylands Road and the Stanneylands Hotel. Another picture taken when the flowering cherries were out. For more on the old A34 click here.
North of Wilmslow on the A34 bypass is the 40 acre Handforth Dean shopping centre containing Marks & Spencer, Tesco and BHS. The bypass was partly funded by these shops. Click on the picture to see more of Handforth Dean.
The bypass from the South looking back towards the town.
The bypass ends outside Alderley Edge, whose residents await an extension to circumnavigate Alderely village centre. It has been planned and almost approved a few times since the mid 1980s, but always stopped for some reason or other. It would take through traffic around the village and rejoin the A34 at Alderley Park, home of Astra Zeneca (formerly known as plain Zeneca; formerly known as ICI).
