Water Lane starts in the centre of Wilmslow at the Rex and goes towards Altrincham
Water lane near the centre of town. You can just see the Rex at the far end. The Job Centre is at the extreme left of picture and the Brasserie and Slug & Lettuce wine bars are just beyond the "parking" sign. Out of picture to the right is the office of the Information Commissioner.
An inviting shop window.
On your right heading out of town.
Some of the Brasserie's clientele relax outside
A police car drives down Water Lane on a rare occasion when there's no-one illegally parked outside the Brasserie. (Well OK I waited 45 minutes till there was no-one parked & had about 20 seconds to take the picture.)
Another view of the Brasserie and the Slug and Lettuce. The Brasserie gets repainted frequently.
Sadly no-one did.
Further out from the centre. Shops along Water Lane, looking towards Grove Street and the Rex.
A little further along, this time looking away from Grove Street.
A few yards further out from the centre. The petrol station just off Water Lane. Out of the picture to the left are the police station and the fire station. Click here to see the snowman...
It's anonymous, it's inconspicuous, what is it?
It's the new Police Station. The old Police Station in the town centre was converted into a large pub (the Blue Lamp) and subsequently demolished.
Suzy Krakowski's hat shop was here but has now closed.
Another few yards further down, in Bourne Street, just off Water Lane (picture taken before the rebuilding works). The Wilmslow Guild adult education centre, now over threequarters of a century old. Home of, amongst others, the Wilmslow Guild Photographic Society (WGPS) and the Wilmslow Guild Players.
